Processes for producing acrylic products (2)


Hot Bending

After the sheet heat and soften, the hot bend can be performed when the temperature of the acrylic sheet reaches 70-80 degrees Celsius. Hot bending can divide into mold hot bend and partial hot bend.


1. Mold hot bend

Uncontrolled thermal deformation occurs during the heating of acrylic, and acrylic products in large areas of shape up generally use mold hot bending. Put the acrylic in the oven and slowly raise the temperature. After the acrylic softens, put it on the mold that has been prepared beforehand. Acrylic products with hot bending of the mold are high in precision.


2. Local hot bending

This is one of the most commonly used hot bending methods for acrylic products. Place the portion of the acrylic that is to be hot-bent on the heated linear heating wire. Slowly heat the heating wire to soften the area where the acrylic is to be bent and then bend it to any angle you want.

It is worth noting that in the process of hot bending must pay attention to control the temperature of the heating rod, cannot quickly rise or decrease, otherwise, it will cause acrylic hot bending part of the pockmarks, bubbles and other problems.


Drilling

Sometimes acrylic products need to be fitted with accessories that acrylic board needs to be perforated and installed screws. Acrylic plate is not easy to drilling, first determine the requirements for drilling, such as the position, size, and shape of the hole, and then use some professional tools to drilling, such as portable drill machine, bench drill, laser cutting machine.


1. Portable drill

Portable drill convenient and fast, not too large working environment restrictions, drilling position is flexible. But portable drills can not drill large holes, nor can they drill holes with shapes. At the same time hand drilling also requires a certain skill, otherwise easy to skip hole or even make acrylic plate fracture.


2. Bench drilling

Bench drilling machine is a small drilling machine with vertical arrangement of the spindle. It is mainly used for drilling, reaming, tapping and scraping of small and medium-sized parts. Bench drilling machine drilling relative to the standard diameter is generally less than 13 mm, not more than 25 mm. Based on the length of the drilling arm, the position of the hole is also limited, and the hole with shape cannot be drilled.


3. Laser cutting

The outline of laser cutting machine drilling is designed by the computer program. Drilling has no limit on size, shape, and distance. The drilling standard of the laser cutting machine is accurate and the edge is smooth, but drilling holes in the acrylic plate above 6mm is easy to burst, resulting in incomplete samples.


Acrylic bonding

The quality of acrylic products is directly experienced in the bonding of acrylic. The bonding quality is affected by two aspects, one is glue; the other is the glue method.


1. Glue type

There are two main types of adhesive, one is a two-component adhesive, such as universal adhesive, epoxy resin; two-component adhesive has a good bonding effect, with no bubbles, no whitening, high strength. However, its operation is complex, and the curing time is long, that it is not suitable for mass production. There is also a one-component adhesive, such as CCl3. The one-component adhesive is characterized by high speed and can be produced in batches, but the bonded products are easy to produce bubbles, easy to whiten, and poor weather resistance.


2. Bonding mode

Docking bonding:

Place the two acrylic plates horizontally on the operating platform, cross-section docking, and stick tape at the bottom, leaving a gap not larger than the width of the 0.3mm for the adhesive. Use a syringe to evenly and slowly inject the adhesive from one side into the gap until it is fully filled. Finally, remove the tape after the glue has been completely solidified.


Facade bonding:

Facade bonding is the most widely used bonding method. First of all, the required surface will be wiped clean, it is best to use the right angle model to keep the acrylic sheet from shaking. In the case of an acrylic sheet having a thickness of 3 mm, a thin metal wire may be placed on the glued surface, and the bonding may be performed by capillary action to extract the wire before the adhesive is cured. Or use the adhesive tape and then apply adhesive bonding.


Bevel bonding:

The bevel bonding must be molded at an angle of 90 degrees to prevent the displacement of the glued surface. The application of adhesive should be uniform and slow. The mold cannot be removed until it has been completely solidified.


Plane bonding:

Plane bonding is a special bonding method. First, wipe the surface to be cleaned horizontally and apply a proper amount of adhesive on it. Place one side of the other acrylic plate diagonally on the adhesive-coated acrylic plate, then put it down evenly and slowly, and drive the bubble out from one side to complete the bonding.


Bonding skills:

Acrylic adhesive can erode the surface of the acrylic plate and leave traces that cannot be eliminated, so you can use adhesive tape to protect the parts that do not need to be bonded. Grease, dust, or pores can hinder the uniform coating of adhesives and leave bubbles. Use an insufficient amount of binder can bring air into the glued surface when it shrinks. Direct blowing will make the edge of the adhesive surface white due to the volatilization of the adhesive. Indoor humidity, temperature and so on have a direct impact on the bonding of acrylic panels.


Packaging and transportation

In order to avoid scratches of the acrylic product in the process of transportation, the acrylic product should be wrapped with plastics film and double-layer kraft paper after finished, so as to ensure that acrylic products will not be damaged in transit.


1. General acrylic box transport packaging.

Acrylic products must be fixed during transportation, otherwise, it will easily cause damage to acrylic products. The transportation of acrylic products should be paid special attention to, integrated products such as acrylic boxes need to be wrapped in plastics film and then added foam bricks to the outside of their products. Then transport in the box to avoid knock in transit to ensure the integrity of the acrylic box.


2. Transportation of large acrylic products.

The larger volume will be more prone to problems in the transport process that more laborious both in freight and packaging. The larger acrylic product needs to be tightly packaged. For example, the length of acrylic used in acrylic light box production will reach 3 meters long, and its tight thickness will only be 5 millimeters. The transportation method of this kind of product is fixed with a wooden frame and then packed in a wooden box. its stability and safety are guaranteed, but there is also a high cost in terms of cost.
